Mount Rokko
Nightscape of Kobe, one of the best night views of Japan
Mount Rokko extends from the western to the northern parts of the urban area of Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. Commonly, Mount Rokko refers to the entire Rokko Mountain Range, which includes various sized mountains spanning not only Kobe but also the surrounding cities of Ashiya, Nishinomiya and Takarazuka. At the mountaintop, there are many relaxing sightseeing spots such as a pasture farm and an ancient temple with a wonderful view. The night view from Mount Maya is famous as one of the three best night views of Japan.
Kobe Municipal Rokkosan Pasture
The Rokkosan Pasture raises numerous sheep, cows, horses and goats, and is a place where visitors can interact with animals and nature in the idyllic scenery of Mount Rokko. Visit the Mount Rokko QBB Cheese House where you can observe the manufacturing process of Kobe cheese (a type of camembert cheese) from the corridor. You can also take various hands-on classes such as wool crafting and hand making ice cream, butter, cheese and frozen yogurt.
Mount Maya Kikuseidai
From the center of Kobe, take the cable car and ropeway to Maya Kikuseidai, one of Japan's three best night views, as the dynamic nightscape spanning from Osaka to Kobe spreads before your eyes. The transformation of the sunset slowly turning the sky dark blue and the twinkling lights of the wharf and cities coming to life is truly breathtaking. Then at night, watch a spectacular night view often dubbed as the "10 million dollar night view." The brilliance makes it pity to blink!
