    01 Yufuin no Mori

    Resort train with warm wooden interior escorts you to the exquisite hot spring of Yufuin

    The limited express Yufuin no Mori traverses from Hakata in Fukuoka Prefecture, the major hub of the Kyushu region, to Yufuin and Beppu, two of Japan's most popular hot spring destinations. The stylish green exterior, the retro-modern cabin interior, and large windows to enjoy the scenic view all make for an enjoyable trip. At the snack bar, passengers can purchase bento lunch boxes, sweets, and other original souvenirs. Indicative of Japanese hospitality and welcome, another popular feature is the subtle "omotenashi" photo service with cabin attendants.

    A fun-filled train ride for everyone!

    Like a moving amusement park, "Aso Boy!" is packed with fun for the entire family. Connecting Kumamoto and Beppu, the train features a family car with a ball pit filled with smooth wooden balls, as well as a picture book corner and family seating. From the Panorama Section car, you can enjoy the stunning view of Aso's vast nature. Be sure to spot the cute train mascot Kuro greeting passengers at various sections.

    Retro stained glass windows and the sound of jazz make a train journey like a scene in a movie

    Named after the famous jazz tune and also taking the first letter of the beautiful Amakusa area, the Limited Express A-train runs between Kumamoto City and Misumi, the entryway to the Amakusa Islands. The train is elegantly designed with a wooden interior and stained glass windows reminiscent of Western culture introduced to the area during the 16th century. Sit back and relax in the retro bar with specialty dekopon citrus highball as jazz music plays in the background in a train journey for adults.

    Special Fukuoka operation of a train that usually runs in the Hitoyoshi-Kuma region in Kumamoto

    As this train is currently unable to run on its regular Hisatsu Line due to the damage caused by the flooding in Kumamoto and Kagoshima in June 2020, a special train operation has been set up between Hakata and Mojiko. To create a relaxing, forest-like atmosphere, cypress and cedar harvested in Kyushu have been used for the interior of the cars, and some Kumamoto souvenirs, such as Kuma Shochu and Banpeiyu Cider, are sold on board.

    Designed according to the folk tale of the Dragon's Palace in the Satsuma Peninsula, the Limited Express Ibusuki no Tamatebako features a bold black and white exterior and bright wood-carving interiors with spacious seats. From the expansive windows, passengers can gaze at the serene ocean view. Complete with children's seating, this sightseeing train can be enjoyed by the entire family.

    Take in the abundant nature of the mountains and the seas from the train windows

    The resort train Umisachi Yamasachi travels along the sparkling blue sea of Miyazaki and through the deep forest of Obi, letting in the tropical sunshine from its large windows. The local specialty lumber Obisugi cedar is used generously on both the train's exterior and interior, creating a warm and cozy feeling.
