Amanohashidate

Amanohashidate, a mystical natural work of art selected as one of Japan's three scenic views. Get the best view of the flying dragon up in the heavens from Amanohashidate View Land

Located in Miyazu Bay in northern Kyoto Prefecture, Amanohashidate is a roughly 3.6-kilometer sandbar covered with approximately 5,000 densely growing green pine trees. Amanohashidate View Land is an observatory that offers a panoramic view of the sandbar from the south side. Try viewing it in the "matanozoki style" by turning your back on the sandbar and bending over forward to view it upside down through your legs, which is said to make Amanohashidate appear as if it were a dragon flying into the sky. The blue ocean and sky and the green pine trees present a truly superb view.

Experience a wide range of activities at the Amanohashidate Activity Center

The Amanohashidate Activity Center offers a wide range of both outdoor and indoor activities, including sea kayaking, SUP (standup paddle boarding), fishing and handcrafting. The beauty of the sandbar viewed from a sea kayak is also exceptional. Get hands-on experiences only available here such as morning fishing also suited for kids, as well as candle-making using seashells and sea glass picked up in the sandbar.

Kasamatsu Park, another famed viewing spot of Amanohashidate

Located on the north side of the sandbar, Kasamatsu Park, known to be the place where the "matanozoki" viewing style originated from, has been a popular location that offers a scenic view of Amanohashidate since olden times. The sandbar viewed from the park resembles a dragon ascending powerfully into the sky and is said to bring good luck. Indulge in the magnificent view enjoyed over a millennium.
