Kaga Yuzen is an ornate kimono dyeing technique originating in Ishikawa, mostly featuring flowers and plants as design motifs. Dress up in a rental kimono designed with a spring pattern and explore the beautiful town of Kanazawa.

There are workshops in Ishikawa for casually experiencing the art of Yuzen dyeing. Try your hand at dyeing small goods like bags and handkerchiefs to make memorable souvenirs.

Ishikawa is also well known for its pottery and lacquerware. When enjoying Kaga cuisine made with seasonal ingredients, be sure to also focus on the pairings with the tableware to fully enjoy the traditional culture with your eyes and palate.
Akita’s “kabazaiku” is a woodwork craft made from the barks of wild cherry trees. They are products you will want to enjoy for a long time, as their sheen becomes even more lustrous with use.
The culture of traditional crafts has been inherited through deep respect for the seasons. The Kakunodate Cherry Blossom Festival features weeping cherry blossom trees contrasting beautifully with the regal samurai residences around town.
