Another summer staple in Japan is watermelons. Kumamoto, in particular, is a top producer of watermelons, so be sure to appreciate the mouthwatering fruit when visiting!
“Suika-wari,” or watermelon splitting, is a traditional summer game in Japan. The player is blindfolded, given a stick, and follows the verbal directions of others to attempt to bash the watermelon. Try it with your friends!
Don’t just eat the watermelons, have fun harvesting them! Create a lasting memory you can only make by visiting the actual production area and experiencing the harvest of this summer fruit.
