Save to List

An ideal base for touring the beautiful Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, Wakura Onsen is a renowned hot spring resort with a 1,200-year history. Overlooking Nanao Bay, it is the only hot spring in the Hokuriku region located by the sea and has mesmerized visitors for centuries with high-quality hot spring baths, its wealth of natural beauty, and fresh produce from the mountains and sea. Enjoy the hot waters interlaced with a refreshing sea breeze as they relax you in both mind and body.

Wakura Onsen Soyu is a hospitable hot spring loved by local residents and visitors alike. Reopened in 2011 after undergoing renovations, it is also popular for its picturesque appearance and clean, beautiful interior. Enjoy the famous 100% pure hot spring water, only available here, at reasonable prices.

At Yumoto-no-Hiroba, you can make your own salt-flavored soft-boiled eggs. Simply place your eggs inside the designated basket and wait patiently for about 15 minutes. The water from the hot spring source is approximately 90 degrees Celsius, hot enough to slowly cook the eggs to a creamy soft boil. The sea-sourced spring adds a natural salty flavor that makes it ready to eat on the spot.

The highlight of the Wakura Onsen Summer Fireworks is its famous 3-shaku dama, the largest shell size in Japanese fireworks. One explodes mid-air and another just above the water to form a massive burst of bright flowers in the sky measuring 600 meters in diameter. Other features include the star mine fireworks, a spectacular show combining fireworks with music, and various artistic fireworks. The summer spectacle is held annually on the first Thursday of August.
