Located near the entrance of Oita Airport, Village Rest Area Musashi is a direct sales store where you can buy fresh vegetables, fruits, overnight-dried fish and other processed products from Kunisaki. At the restaurant Sora, you can enjoy the raw oyster set menu using Kunisaki Oysters from December to April during the best season for oysters (seasonal menu).
Kunisaki, a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems site
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation (FAO) designates areas where traditional agriculture, culture, and landscapes are preserved and used sustainably as Globally Important Agricultural Heritage sites. In 2013, Kunisaki was designated as such, recognized for its sawtooth oak forests and irrigation ponds connecting the Kunisaki Peninsula Usa integrated forestry agriculture and fisheries system.
