Matsuyama Castle has one of the 12 towers remaining in Japan that has survived from the Edo period (1603-1868), with 21 of its structures designated as important cultural properties. Standing on a mountaintop at 132 meters elevation, the castle tower offers a sweeping view of the city, and is beautifully lit up after sunset.
Said to be the oldest hot spring in Japan, Dogo Onsen has a rich history of around 3,000 years. The main bathhouse, Dogo Onsen Honkan, is the center of the hot spring resort town with lively shopping streets, restaurants and picturesque inns.

Visit in the early morning to appreciate the picturesque landscape all to yourself.
Famous for the long stretch of stone stairway, it takes 785 steps to reach the main shrine and another 1,368 steps to worship at the inner shrine of Konpira-san. The town itself is full of charm with many cultural assets, and streets around the shrine are lined with shops and restaurants serving "udon" noodles, a specialty of Kagawa.

Fly from Haneda Airport to Matsuyama Airport in approximately 1 hour 35 minutes. Traveling around Shikoku is most convenient by rental car, but you can also take a leisurely tour using buses and trains.
