Points to Note

As a general rule, passengers with serious or suspected infections that may spread to other passengers are not allowed to board.
Customers are not allowed to board if they are infected by a contagious disease listed in the School Health and Safety Law not allowing attendance at school such as COVID-19, influenza or rubella and the restrain period has not yet passed.
However, should your physician determine that you are no longer contagious, you may be allowed to fly so please consult your physician. In this case, you may be asked to issue a Medical Information Form (MEDIF). For more details please refer to "Information on Completing the Medical Certificate" below.

Attendance Prohibition Period by Disease

The following is a partial list of the duration of suspension of attendance by disease.

Disease Period during which Attendance is Prohibited
COVID-19 Until 5 days have passed after onset, and 1 day have passed after become less severe
Influenza Until 5 days have passed after onset, and 2 days have passed after the temperature has dropped
Whooping cough Until the characteristic cough has suppressed, or until the treatment with antibiotics has ended
Measles Until 3 days have passed after the temperature has dropped
Mumps Until 5 days have passed after onset of the swelling on parotid, submandibular, and sublingual gland
Rubella Until eruption disappears
Chickenpox Until all eruptions change to scabs
Pharyngoconjunctival fever Until 2 days have passed after the main symptom disappears
Tuberculosis, Meningococcal meningitis, Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis, etc. Until a physician confirms that there is no risk of infection anymore
