Former Takatori Residence

The former residence of Koreyoshi Takatori, a prominent coal baron who owned Kishima Coal Mine and other mines.
There are two major buildings on the extensive grounds, which cover about 2,300 tsubos (some 7,603 square meters). The grand hall is of a unique style and features a Noh stage. With other outstanding features such as transoms with fretwork depicting flora and fauna and paintings on cedar doors that were the latest in design at the time, visitors can enjoy the grandeur of modern Japanese architecture.
