Relaxation and thrills in the beautiful valley of Nagatoro

Nagatoro, located in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, is a popular sightseeing spot where you can enjoy great nature such as Nagatoro Valley. A famous attraction there is the Nagatoro River Cruise with a history of over 100 years, which takes you down the Arakawa River that flows through the magnificent valley in a traditional Japanese boat. The powerful rapid stream, the unusual-shaped rocks formed by nature and the gorgeous mountains complete the scenery of Nagatoro. The boatman's skillful pole handling and the entertaining guide make the boat ride even more exciting.

Nagatoro River Cruise Course B

The Nagatoro River Cruise offers three courses, and Course B is a 3-kilometer course that travels downstream from the Iwadatami rocks to Takasago Bridge. This course has three rapid stream points, such as the long Okawase rapid and the powerful Riffle of Doba, and with many sharp curves and change of scenery, you are sure to enjoy the river cruise to the fullest. The view of the valley from both sides beyond the sharp curves is especially breathtaking. Also, be sure to look for the turtles, fish and wild birds living in the Arakawa River, as well as the beautiful seasonal flowers. Other highlights include various rocks shaped like animals, as well as the boatman’s amazing skills to turn the rudder of the boat within a hairbreadth of these rocks.
