Suo-Oshima Island

Suo-Oshima Island, an "Aloha Island" floating in the Seto Inland Sea!

The tourism keyword for Suo-Oshima Island in Yamaguchi Prefecture’s Oshima County is “Hawaii.” Known as the Hawaii of Setouchi, Suo-Oshima Island is a sister island with the Island of Kauai, with many related events taking place. The roadside rest area, Michi-no-Eki Sazan Seto Towa also has many Hawaiian goods on offer. Of course, you can also purchase goods produced locally on Suo-Oshima Island as souvenirs.
Suo-Oshima Island is the third largest island in the Seto Inland Sea. It is an island of natural beauty, famous for its mandarins. Its strong ties with Hawaii can be traced back to the almost 4,000 islanders who emigrated to Hawaii. They also share the same temperate climate.

Suo-Oshima Saturday Hula

The island of Suo-Oshima in Yamaguchi Prefecture, which is a sister island of Hawaii’s Kauai Island and is known as the “Hawaii of Setouchi,” is the stage for Saturday Hula, or “Satahula” for short, every Saturday during the summer vacation period. At venues such as Green Stay Nagaura and H&R Sunshine Sazan Seto, you can show off your wonderful hula dancing under the beautiful starry skies on outdoor stages of natural grass lawn.

Michi-no-Eki “Sazan Seto Towa”

As well as seafood caught in the Seto Inland Sea, farm produce grown in the rich natural surrounds, and products processed from Oshima mandarins, the Challenge Shop sells gelato, honey, local sake labels, Hawaiian merchandise, and a variety of other goods. The restaurant or cafe, which serves meals made with local ingredients, is also popular.
