Transport of Lithium Battery-powered Electronic Devices Subject to Recall

Alongside the recent increase in the transport by air of electronic devices containing lithium batteries, there have also been product recalls put in place due to the risk of these batteries unexpectedly catching fire.
Sufficient caution must be exercised when transporting lithium battery-powered electronic devices subject to recall.
In accordance with the recent transportation standards stipulated in the circular from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, we request that you take the following measures when transporting lithium batteries subject to recall or electronic devices containing such batteries and bring them on board with you.

  • Turn off the power of the electronic device.
  • Do not charge the electronic device.
  • Protect the device against unintended operation and damage.
  • The device should be stored in a location near to the passenger who brought it on board.
  • The device cannot be accepted as checked baggage.

Please note that depending on the country, city or region, the carry-on of applicable devices may also be restricted. Customers are asked to confirm the restrictions at their destination before they travel.
