Kokumin Shukusha Kurosaki-sou

Kokumin Shukusha Kurosaki-sou is located on a cliff about 140 meters above the sea in Fudai Village in Iwate Prefecture. A "kokumin shukusha" is a holiday inn run by the government offering affordable accommodation in scenic areas. Kurosaki-sou is popular for its public bath overlooking the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean and cuisine made with fresh seafood brought right from the Sanriku Coast, a world-renowned fishing ground. The inn is surrounded by many tourist spots, including the Rikuchu Kurosaki Lighthouse selected as one of the 50 best lighthouses in Japan.

An easternmost village located at 40 degrees north latitude

Fudai, where Kurosaki-sou is located, is the easternmost village at 40 degrees north latitude along the northern coast of Iwate Prefecture. Blessed with the rich nature of the sea and mountains, you can enjoy all the hues of the blue sky and ocean. The Anmoura Observatory located behind the inn is the easternmost point of 40 degrees north latitude. In the surrounding area are also a 4-meter-tall globe-shaped monument that symbolizes 40 degrees north latitude and the Kurosaki Observation Deck where you can see a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from a sheer cliff.
