Museum of the Meiji Restoration in Kagoshima City, Kagoshima, has so many attractive features.

At this high-tech museum that reopened after renovations on January 11, 2018, you can enjoy learning everything about the Meiji Restoration,such as the accomplishments of the founders of modern Japan, like Takamori Saigo and Toshimichi Okubo, as well as the history of Kagoshima.

Museum of the Meiji Restoration

The main features of the museum consist of two shows played at the Meiji Restoration Experience Hall in the basement. One of the shows, "Road to the Restoration," offers an immersive and dynamic story via life-size robots that look just like Saigo and Okubo, as well as multi-screen presentations.

Statue of Saigo Takamori

Shiroyama Town has an 8 m statue of Takamori Saigo in uniform, standing firm with his back against Mt. Shiroyama. He was the first army general in Japan.
