    Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

    This mountain sightseeing route brings you up close with the masterpieces of the natural world. Worthy attractions include Japan's only glacier, Japan's tallest dam, Japan's oldest mountain hut, and the highest-altitude train station in Japan.

    Firefly Squid Boat Tour

    This pageant of light is only available a few months of the year. The blue illumination produced by firefly squid momentarily transform the dark pre-dawn sea into a magical fantasy world.

    Kurobe Gorge Railway

    Kurobe Gorge is one of Japan's three greatest gorges, and one of its 100 Unexplored Regions. Take part in serene tours that wind over bridges and through tunnels surrounded by the grandeur of nature.

    This hot spring boasts the clearest water in Japan. Aside from the hot spring, travellers can rejuvenate themselves with the fresh seafood and local sake and beer brewed with the famed waters of the gorge.

    Spring-flowering trees and blooms too pretty to paint can be viewed at this heart-fluttering scenic spot. Only during spring can you enjoy the enchanting sight of cherry blossoms illuminated by a bonfire.

    Iwase Townscape

    Clustered in this historical district with traditional atmosphere are wholesale merchants that service the ships that call at Iwase's port. Several of the buildings are preserved, and sport the same design they have had since they were first erected in the Meiji era (1868-1912).

    Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten

    This pharmacy has a long history, and is a key pillar of Toyama culture. Visitors can purchase souvenirs from this store. In-store pharmacists provide advice to visitors, who may also try their hand at medicine-mixing at no charge.
