European Rail Services

Customers flying with ANA and traveling between Japan and Europe can use trains as a mode of transportation. On this page, you'll find information around two major rail services—Deutsche Bahn (DB) and InterCity Rail Service. Note: These rail services may not be available on some fares and are based on seat availability. There may be other rail services which are not indicated below. If you have a reservation on rail services with another airline's flight number, please contact the airline directly for details.

Lufthansa Express

This is a service of Deutsche Lufthansa AG (Lufthansa or LH), a joint venture partner of ANA. For details, please see Lufthansa Express Rail.

Eligible Trains

  • With regards to Deutsche Bahn ICE with an LH flight number, please visit Lufthansa Express Rail for more information on eligible routes.

Reservation / Purchase

  • When purchasing an airline ticket, please reserve and select the desired train/rail (LH flight number) section in the same way as the flight section.
  • Airline tickets will be displayed with LH flight numbers even for train/rail sections.

Seats

First class and business class passengers will have reserved seats in the first class carriage. Premium Economy or Economy Class passengers will be seated in second class.

Boarding Procedure

Check-in is required as with any flight segment. Please complete online check-in at least 15 minutes before the train departure time.

  • * Failure to follow the correct procedures may result in invoice being issued later by Deutsche Bahn for the fare.

Baggage

You are responsible for your baggage when getting on and off the train as well as while on board.
Note: Passengers using Lufthansa-operated flights from Frankfurt can use the AIRail counter at the Frankfurt train station, but ANA passengers must bring their own baggage to the ANA check-in counter.

Rail&Fly Service

Along with your air ticket, you can purchase a ticket for Deutsche Bahn, which connects German domestic airports served by ANA flights with more than 5,600 stations in Germany.

Trains can be used on the boarding day of the flight and the following day (for departures from Germany, the day before and the boarding day of the flight).

Applicable Routes

These tickets can be used on all Deutsche Bahn (DB) routes departing from and arriving at German domestic airports served by ANA flights.
They can also be used on Deutsche Bahn (DB) trains connecting Amsterdam, Zurich, Basel, Salzburg and Brussels airports to German stations.

Ticket holders of this service can use all Deutsche Bahn (DB) trains (including ICE Sprinter).

Reservations and Purchasing

  • Please request these tickets when booking your ANA international flight ticket. Requests cannot be accepted after ticket purchase.
  • Can be obtained at no additional charge on published fares from Japan/Germany.
  • Star Alliance fares and ANA international flight awards are not eligible.
  • When you make a flight reservation, please select "Rail&Fly/Railways Germany (Rail&Fly) [QYG]" as the departure/arrival city and select your desired itinerary.
  • Deutsche Bahn flights are displayed with a W2 flight number. Please note that the departure and arrival times shown on your e-ticket are provisional and may differ from the actual times.

Train Ticket Collection

  • Train tickets are required to be collected before boarding the train. They can be collected up to 72 hours prior to the departure time of the relevant train.
  • No changes can be made after the ticket has been issued.
  • After collecting a DB train ticket, DB's conditions of carriage will apply.
  • You can collect the tickets before boarding the train either online or in-person.
Online/Mobile Ticket Collection

Visit the FLEX FLIGHT website and select your preferred method to receive your travel documents—after entering your name and flight ticket number or reservation number. Note: Please make sure you have printed out the document if you select Printed Document.

Connection Times

  • The travel duration shown on your booking confirmation does not take into account the time required for connections.
  • Train schedules and congestion information can be found at Deutsche Bahn.
  • When heading to the airport by train, please confirm the check-in deadline for your flight and allow yourself plenty of time.
When connecting to Deutsche Bahn from a flight from Japan to Germany,

it will generally take 75 minutes to transfer to a train after the scheduled arrival time of your international flight.

When connecting from Deutsche Bahn to a flight from Germany to Japan,

please use the train that arrives at the airport station approximately 120 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the international flight.

  • E-ticket customer receipt for international flights
  • Identity card such as passport

Baggage Check-In

You are responsible for your baggage when getting on and off the train as well as while on board.

  • If you are transferring from a flight from Japan to Germany to Deutsche Bahn, please collect your baggage upon arrival at the airport.
  • When transferring from Deutsche Bahn to a flight from Germany to Japan, please bring it to the ANA baggage counter after arriving at the airport.

InterCity

This rail service is provided by InterCity and includes all InterCity routes between Brussels and Amsterdam. Note: Thalys-operated trains are not available.

Applicable Routes

  • All InterCity routes between Brussels Airport/Brussels Midi Station-Amsterdam Schiphol Airport/Amsterdam Central Station.
  • Only international sectors are available.
    • The applicable route may be different depending on your fare types. Please check your fare rules.

Reservations and Purchasing

  • Please purchase the train ticket at the same time as purchasing the international flight. Train numbers will be shown as 9B (AccesRail) carrier code.
  • The AccesRail carrier code (9B) is shown on the flight ticket, as are the departure and arrival times for the relevant train.

Please visit the AccesRail website and enter your name and flight ticket number or reservation number.

Ticket Collection at InterCity Stations

Please complete check-in with customer service agents at the AirRail desk located at the stations. Note: The train ticket is not for a reserved seat. Please find a vacant seat after boarding.

Connection Times

  • The train journey time that is indicated on the reservation confirmation does not include connection times.
  • When traveling to the airport by train, please note the check-in deadline for the flight and allow plenty of time.

Required Documents

The following documents are required for boarding:

  • Printed InterCity ticket (please be sure to print the ticket before boarding the train)
  • A copy of your international flight reservation confirmation or e-Ticket Itinerary Receipt
  • Your passport or other form of personal ID

Boarding Procedure

  • Please bring your printed ticket and board the train.
  • Separate check-in procedures are required for the flight.
  • Take your baggage with you to the train and proceed to the ANA baggage counter upon arriving at the airport.
