Tsuruga Castle's Cherry Trees

Tsuruga Castle Park is a place where people in the city come together. In spring, 1,000 cherry trees in different varieties come into full bloom one after another. The color of the delicate pink petals blends beautifully with the pure white walls and reddish roof tiles of the castle. These cherry trees are illuminated at night from around the time when the flowers start to bloom during the Golden Week (late April to early May). The top of the castle is another must-visit spot to overlook the panorama of the castle town filled with cherry blossoms both in the daytime and nighttime. At night, they are especially beautiful when reflected on the moat, as well as the illuminated stone walls, creating a mystical night scene.
