Asahiyama Zoo
"Behavior show" is a program specially designed to showcase the animals' unique interesting behaviors. Don't miss their "feeding time". In winter, the penguins hiking with lovely gait are the greatest attraction.

Blue Pond
An artificial pond in fantastic blue, reflecting on its surface images of withered larches and birches which display different colors as the light changes.

Take a Dohoku Bus at Biei Station and get off at "Entrance to Shirogane Blue Pond" bus stop after about a 20-minute ride, and then walk for about 10 minutes.
Farm Tomita
Flocks of tourists come in summer for the beautiful vista of purple lavender fields over the hills. The place is adorned with different species of flowers in different seasons.

Patchwork Road

Come and be awed by nature as the icebreaker takes you across the Sea of Okhotsk in cold winter making its way through floating ice with a large and strong bow.

Experience the dog sled
Enjoy the silver world of natural snow scenery on a sled pulled by dogs. You can even control them as the musher.

Lake Shumarinai (Fishing the Japanese smelts "wakasagi")
In winter, you can see an excellent atmospheric optical phenomenon like the diamond dust and light pillar on Lake Shumarinai. It is a great place for the family to enjoy a picnic and anglers to go fishing the wakasagi.

Okhotsk Tokkari Center
This is the only marine animal protection facility in Japan where seals are reared and protected. In feeding time, visitors watch the seals in close distance and understand the animal from the keeper's narrative. Special facilities are also designed for visitors' interaction with the seals.

Take a Hokumon Bus from Monbetsu Airport, get off at "Minami No Oka Shichi-Chome" Bus Stop after 6 minutes, and walk for 16 minutes; you may also get off at the "Entrance to Okhotsk Tower" and walk for 11 minutes.
