Mihama American Village
Experience the extraordinary in the ordinary of the village’s townscape that exudes an American ambience in Chatan
The Mihama American Village with an eye-catching large Ferris wheel is located in the town of Chatan on the western coast in the central part of Okinawa Island. As its name suggests, the village is an exotic and photogenic spot filled with an American atmosphere. With a number of American-themed shops, amusement facilities and restaurants scattered throughout, the village offers a townscape that resembles a stylish overseas resort.
The Mihama American Village
The inside of the Mihama American Village is divided into several areas lined with facilities for shopping and dining as well as a resort hotel, a movie theater and a hot spring. Palm trees are planted throughout the village and the brick sidewalks are perfect for a leisurely stroll. The best time to ride the iconic Ferris wheel is during the beautiful sunset and at night. You can see the whole city lit up from up high. Another nice feature of the village is the large free parking lot.
Chatan Fisharena
Chatan Fisharena is a waterfront area located next to the Mihama American Village. It has a calm ambience with a boardwalk where you can take a stroll as soothing ocean breezes caress you, as well as seafood restaurants offering locally sourced dishes and cafes and bars with spectacular views. Because Chatan Fisharena can be easily accessed from the hotels, you can also readily enjoy cruising and other marine activities. The sunset view and the exotic townscape of the Mihama American Village seen from the boat are truly exceptional.
Araha Beach
Araha Beach is one of the most well-known beaches in Chatan along with Sunset Beach located right next to the Mihama American Village. Lined with palm trees and open cafes, the beach is always crowded with people enjoying BBQs and marine sports. Although Araha Beach is a man-made beach, it boasts scenery that looks natural. Stretching for about 600 meters, with the transparent cobalt blue waters as far as you can see, the white sandy beach is perfect for a seaside BBQ while enjoying the ocean view. The beach also offers great options for marine sports such as diving, kayaking and SUP.
