Nanukamachi Street in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture is popular with its retro streetscape. A coffee shop located at Nanukamachi Station that called "Station Café" has a calm atmosphere also recommended to visit. Nanukamachi Street was known as one of the downtown areas in the Aizu area. It is a popular place for many tourists as a street where traditional collections such as historical temples and delicious Japanese confectionery shops line up and you can feel the romantic of Taisho era.
Nanukamachi Street was one of the important roads to the Nikko, Echigo, and Yonezawa Kaido of the Aizu five major roads, passed through the main road and prospered as a gateway to the west of Aizu Castle. Until around 1955 it was the bustling town center of Aizu, however it eventually declined. Currently, it’s a popular street for tourists as you can feel the romantic of Taisho era.
Enjoy coffee made using subterranean river water from Mount Bandai and drinking locally produced fruit juices at Nanukamachi Station Café, there are also space that sells special product goods, exhibition galleries, tourist information centers, and all of it makes Nanukamachi Street as the base of information dissemination in Aizu.
