Roadside Station Ushibuka Kaisaikan

Savor the many delicacies of Ushibuka’s beautiful ocean
Roadside Station Ushibuka Kaisaikan is located in Ushibuka, the southernmost point of Amakusa, with excellent access next to the ferry terminal of Ushibuka Port. The shop offers various products such as nerimono (fish paste products) and dried fish made from locally caught seafood. At the restaurant, visitors can enjoy dishes made from fresh local ingredients such as sashimi rice bowls amidst a scenic natural setting of the surrounding islands and sea and a regional landmark, Ushibuka Haiya Bridge.
Ushibuka Haiya Bridge
The 883-meter bridge passes over Ushibuka Port and leads to Ushirobama New Port. Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano and completed in 1997, the gracefully curved bridge stands harmoniously with nature and has a pedestrian way perfect for strolling. The name of the bridge is derived from “Haiyabushi,” a local performing art of Ushibuka. The bridge is beautifully illuminated at night for a splendid view. Adjacent from the bridge, a car ferry operates from Ushibuka Port connecting to Nagashima in Kagoshima Prefecture in just 30 minutes.
Ushibuka Marine Park
Situated on a beautiful sea with colorful coral reefs including Acropora and Melithaea ochracea, Ushibuka Marine Park was designated as Japan's first marine park in 1970. It is a popular spot for snorkeling and scuba diving, and you can also get a close look at the vibrant corals and delightful tropical fish such as anemone fish and neon damselfish from the glass bottom boat named Submarine from Ushibuka Port.
