Imayo-Tsukasa Sake Brewery

Imayo-Tsukasa Sake Brewery from Chuo, Niigata City, is a long-established brewery where you can enjoy Niigata sake by participating sake brewery tour, etc. At the shops, there are also sake tastings as well as shopping. About 20 minutes walk from JR Niigata Station, take a tour and pick up souvenirs at the Brewery that established in 1767. Imayo-Tsukasa Sake Brewery is in a swampy area that flourished as a key area of river traffic between Niigata Port and the inland area from the Edo period to the beginning of Showa era. The unique townscapes and culture where a beautiful past and modern times intersect.

After passing through the curtain, enter a sacred sake brewery. Upon entering the building is a large entrance hall with stairwell, just as it was originally built. This brewery is connected to various types of large and small Kura breweries. There is the "Hon-kura" from 1899, the newest "Heiwa-kura", and the "Edo-kura" from when the building was moved in the Edo period, each building matching its time. In front of each Kura there is a cedar ball that informs when "a new sake has been made."

There is also a tasting corner where visitors can choose from 15 kinds of sake in the "Kuriya" shop, which also sells sake and other merchandise. As for souvenirs, merchandize unique to sake brewery, including face masks containing sake and malted rice. A machine-vended capsule game "Local Sake Gacha" is also popular.
