Moerenuma Park

Located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Moerenuma Park is unique in combining art and nature. The design concept was devised by world-renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988). Noguchi, who was known for creating works of art that fused Eastern and Western concepts and resonated with nature, designed the park with the idea of sculpting the earth.

The roughly 189-hectare park, built in expansive Hokkaido, features greenery as far as the eye can see. In one corner of the park, there is an expansive forest of 1,600 cherry trees, and there are 126 swings, slides, and other pieces of colorful playground equipment designed by Noguchi for children to enjoy. The glass pyramid and large fountain are also compelling spots.

You can stroll around the entire park in about one hour, but you can also rent bicycles within the park. Why not spend some time in nature and experience Noguchi's worldview as you lay in the grass or enjoy a picnic in the pleasant breeze?
