Tokyu Kabukicho Tower

The Tokyu Kabukicho Tower opened in April 2023 as a new symbol of the Kabukicho area of Shinjuku in Tokyo. It is a multi-purpose skyscraper with 48 floors above ground and five below. The exterior was designed by Yuko Nagayama, a young, up-and-coming architect who also designed the Japanese pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai. The building resembles a fountain spraying water high in the sky, as there is a shrine dedicated to a water goddess in Kabukicho. The windows are shaped like waves, and you can find “seigaiha,” a traditional Japanese pattern representing water, in various places throughout the building.

Inside, you can find a cineplex equipped with all-premium seating and a sound system overseen by Ryuichi Sakamoto, a theater, a concert hall, hotels, restaurants, and more. There are also works of art by modern artists such as Ushio Shinohara and Daido Moriyama displayed throughout the building. On the second floor, there are 10 shops combining food, music and video based on a festive theme at Shinjuku Kabuki Hall Kabuki-Yokocho. In addition to local food from all over Japan, you can also enjoy performances by different DJs and artists each day, along with various other thrilling events.
