SIMOSE ART GARDEN VILLA
Otake City, located on the western edge of Hiroshima Prefecture, boasts abundant nature surrounded by the sea and mountains. Opened in 2023, SIMOSE ART GARDEN VILLA was designed by Shigeru Ban, an architect whose many awards include the Pritzker Architecture Prize. Ten villas, a restaurant, and an art museum are spread out across this 4.6-hectare ground overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.
The art museum is a collection of colorful boxes floating on a water basin, inspired by the many islands of the Seto Inland Sea, and looks unlike any other architecture in the world. The boxes float and can be moved around along the water, allowing the space to be arranged according to each exhibit. The museum houses approximately 500 items, from traditional Japanese dolls to art nouveau glasswork and modern paintings by Matisse and Chagall.
The villas are all expansive suites, each designed uniquely and available in two types: Waterfront Villas facing the water basin and Forest Villas surrounded by trees. Enjoy some personal time as if staying at a vacation home and spend luxurious moments appreciating the sights of the Seto Inland Sea while sleeping amongst works of art.
There are a total of five Waterfront Villas.
