Notice to Passengers Holding Chinese Nationality Transiting in Japan

For passengers holding Chinese nationality planning to enter Japan in transit

We strongly recommend you to obtain a transit visa or short-stay visa prior to departure if:

  • You expect to enter Japan when there is a need to change airports in Japan for onward connections.
  • You expect to enter Japan due to a forced overnight layover (NOTE: Narita Airport is not 24-hour facility).
  • You intentionally plan to take a connection flight from the same airport the following day when there is a same-day connection.

Please acknowledge beforehand that you may be refused boarding depending on your declaration and the travel documents (passport, visa, etc.) you present upon check in.

Permission for entry to Japan will be determined by the immigration officer based on the immigration law in Japan.

Therefore, ANA will not assume any responsibility in cases where a passenger is denied permission for landing.

For further questions and/or inquiries regarding visa and or travel document requirements, please contact the embassy or consulate of your transit country and country of final destination.
