Haneda Airport Terminal 2 to Open South Pier
Tokyo’s newest airport terminal gets even more convenient

TOKYO January 24, 2007 - The new South Pier of Tokyo’s Haneda Airport Terminal 2 will open to the public on February 15 this year, completing the final phase of construction at the terminal occupied almost exclusively by ANA.

Terminal 2 opened to great accolade in December 2004 and at present consists of the main building and North Pier. Currently, 70% of ANA flights are served by Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB), which passengers use to board and disembark directly from their aircraft. This will rise to 90% with the addition of the South Pier and its five PBB gates, a move which will improve the convenience of passengers and speed up the boarding and disembarking process.

Furthermore, in a Japanese first, Gate 67 will be able to accommodate one wide/ medium-body aircraft or two smaller aircraft - of the Airbus A320/ A321/ Boeing 737 class - simultaneously. This new ‘PBB multi-spot’ is also designed to ease passenger boarding and disembarking and make greatest use of available space.

The South Pier will add approximately 11,000m2 of space in which customers can relax or work before their flights. Amenities will include a Starbucks coffee shop, among other food and drink outlets, a Relaxation Corner* with massage chairs, and a Business Support* area complete with computers, printers and photocopiers.
* payment required

In addition, top tier ANA customers - members of the ANA Mileage Club (AMC) Diamond and Platinum Service, and ANA Super Flyers - will be able to take advantage of a new Signet Lounge. In conjunction with the existing lounges, Terminal 2 will thus boast a lounge capacity of 770 seats - the largest of any domestic airport in Japan.
