What is ANA Blue Base (ABB)?

General training facility "ANA Blue Base (ABB)." It is used not only for training pilots, mechanics, cabin attendants, ground staff, ground handling staff, etc., but also for cooperation with people outside the company and for students to observe the training, which leads to long-term human resource development. In addition to serving as a base for improving safety and flight quality, promoting innovation, reforming work styles, and promoting the ANA brand, it is an energy-saving facility equipped with the latest energy-saving equipment.

What is the point of the award?

In spite of being an energy-saving facility, efforts involving all ABB residents through further reductions in energy consumption and visualization of energy consumption under the theme of "promoting energy policies and fostering an energy-saving culture within ABB" were highly evaluated. In addition, the active dissemination of in-house information using a variety of content contributed to raising awareness of energy conservation throughout the ANA Group, which was an excellent initiative.

1 Enlightenments through the signage in the building on the website
  • Using digital signage to introduce the energy-saving design of ABB as a building to the stationed staff
    Example) Rooftop solar panels/LED certification for the entire building + human sensor, image sensor/high thermal barrier, high-pressure pair glass/BEAMS (Building Energy Management System), etc.
2 Further exploration and development of energy conservation measures
  • Thinning out and turning off lights in the facility
  • Changing the sensitivity of the human sensor for lighting (standard: 5 minutes → 1 minute)
  • Review of elevators and packaged air conditioners
    →The operation of usage of elevators at night and on weekends and holidays was reviewed according to the actual condition of use. The upper and lower limits are set to prevent extreme temperature setting changes of packaged air conditioners.
  • Optimization of transportation power
  • Review of operation of heat source equipment
  • Effective use of shades (Opened in winter and closed in summer to improve air conditioning efficiency)
3 Original policy deployment
  • Set policies to promote using stairs
    Implementation of the campaign called "3UP 3DOWN"
4 Posted on the company website about amounts of usage for electricity and solar energy
  • Visualize and publicize power consumption and reduction
  • Visualization of clean energy production (consumption)
5 Transmit information regarding the SDG's on the company website
  • Establish SDGs promotion representatives (key persons) in each department, obtain energy-saving measures from each department through the key person, and develop implementation measures for the next fiscal year with the involvement of the entire company.
  • The 17th of every month is designated as ABB SDG's Day and information on SDG's is published.

Comment from everyone in charge of ABB

We are delighted to have received this award to ANA Blue Base members. Since the ABB facility is highly energy-efficient and equipped with the latest equipment, it is important that each and every one of us take action with awareness in order to further reduce energy consumption. Therefore, ABB's energy policy has been positioned as a part of the promotion of SDGs. In fiscal 2020, we began by learning the characteristics of the facilities where we work, and at the same time, we have tried to foster energy conservation awareness throughout ABB by visualizing the effects of energy consumption and reduction measures. We hope to create a movement in which people with a wide variety of expertise and experience gathered here can share their wisdom and spread SDGs promotion activities throughout the Group.

In addition to ABB, each and every employee of ANA Group companies such as ANA Catering Service (ANAC) and OCS is highly aware of the importance of energy conservation, starting with what they can do themselves and expanding to what their departments can do. The accumulation and dissemination of these activities contributes to fostering a culture of energy conservation throughout the ANA Group.
