Hachimantai Aspite Line

A refreshing driving through magnificent landscapes of Mount Iwate and Mount Hachimantai
The 27-kilometer mountain sightseeing road runs through Iwate and Akita prefectures. It offers panoramic views of seasonal landscapes of Mount Hachimantai, which are spectacular especially during the seasons of the snow-walled corridor in spring and stunning autumn foliage. The Jukai Line joins with the Hachimantai Aspite Line near the peak of Mount Hachimantai and also offers a scenic driving route that traverses the magnificent scenery of Mount Iwate.
The scenic volcanic landscapes
The Hachimantai Aspite Line is a 27-kilometer dynamic winding-road crossing the borders between Iwate and Akita prefectures and over the peak of Mount Hachimantai. From the road, the blue lakes amid wild forests of Maries' fir trees come into view, creating a scenery unique to Hachimantai. The road offers spectacular views of the varied natural landscapes of each season such as the snow corridor formed by cleared snow in spring as well as the mountains awash in colorful leaves in autumn. The Hachimantai Jukai Line that runs from the summit of Mount Hachimantai is also a great driving course from which you can see the Suzukaze waterfall.
