Ichikai-machi Shibazakura Park
Enjoy the 360-degree view of the pink moss carpet
Ichikai-machi Shibazakura Park is situated next to Lake Hana-no-Suisho in Tochigi Prefecture. From mid-April to May, shibazakura pink mosses cover the vast park, creating a spectacular patchwork-like view that can be seen from the observation tower. The Shibazakura Festival is held at the time the flowers bloom, and the park becomes lively with many visitors.

In Ichikai-machi Shibazakura Park, the pink mosses are planted over an area of about 1.8 hectares, designed in an image of the Kokai River which flows through the local area. The beautiful flowing river-like gradation of the cluster of pink mosses is quite breathtaking. A beautiful patchwork of red, pink, white, and purple can be seen from the observation tower on the west side of the park, and it is also a popular photo spot. The beautiful mountains as the backdrop together with the pink moss creates another great scenic shot.
Shibazakura Festival held from early April to early May
During the festival, Restaurant Hana, a soba restaurant in the park, in addition to a farmer’s market and many local shops open booths to sell various local specialties. Fun stage events are also held in the park. Delight in the 360-degree view of the pink moss carpet while enjoying delicious handmade soba noodles and soft-serve ice cream.
