ANA International Upgrade Awards

Changes after Submitting the Application

The names of the passenger and the AMC member who is providing the miles cannot be changed after the application has been submitted.

Furthermore, upgrade awards are valid only on the flights for which the reservations have been made.
After the application has been submitted, the Passenger's Name, flight number, date, sector, and class of service also cannot be changed, and the ticket cannot be issued as an open ticket.

To make changes, you must complete "the refund procedures for unused awards" before the departure of the originally reserved flight and then submit a new upgrade award application.

Refunds for Unused Awards

Customers who wish to request a cancellation (refund) may do so only if the upgrade award has not been used.

Please complete the procedures by 24 hours prior to the departure time of the originally reserved flight through the ANA website or by contacting ANA during business hours.

Miles that have expired at the time of refund processing cannot be refunded.

If a refund request is not received by the departure time of the originally reserved flight, the refund will not be given.

Cancellations (refunds) are not available at the airport on the departure date.

Expiration Dates for Refunded Miles

The expiration dates for refunded miles will correspond to the expiration dates at the time that the award reservation was made (when mileage was redeemed).

When no miles have expired at the time of the refund.

Example 1: When 20,000 miles which were redeemed for an upgrade award are refunded on October 01, 2019.

The 20,000 miles are refunded to the same accrual months from which they were deducted for the redemption.

When 20,000 miles which were redeemed for an upgrade award are refunded on May 10, 2019.

Of the 20,000 miles, 15,000 are eligible to be refunded to the same accrual months from which they were deducted for the redemption. The 5,000 miles which had expired on April 30, 2019 are not refunded.

Refunds Due to Bad Weather, Equipment Malfunctions, etc.

If flight delays or cancellations occur as a result of force majeure (such as typhoons or snowfall) or equipment malfunctions, or other reasons which are attributable to ANA, all required mileage used to redeem upgrade awards will be refunded.
