Sahoro Resort's Bear Mountain is famous for being the first leisure facility in Japan to feature brown bears, which roam freely on the vast 15-hectare site. While other bear farms or zoos keep bears in cages or concrete enclosures, this facility allows visitors to observe the the bears' behavior in a natural environment. Visitors can either observe the bears from a 370-meter long walkway that is elevated 5 meters above the ground or get an even closer look on the 1.2 km bear-watching bus course. Furthermore, visitors can come face to face with these majestic creatures at Bear Point, which is located at the center of the facility. Paws, claws, and other details that are usually difficult to see can be viewed up close. In Japan, brown bears can only be found in Hokkaido, and Bear Mountain is the only place where visitors can observe them safely as they roam through the forest. Come and meet each unique bear for yourself.
